Sweet Jesus

You've heard the saying concerning working with children and animals? Add to that electric appliances...Sunday night, it being the finale to our Great Expectations series, I decided to add to the anticipation of Communion by cooking bread live in the service. I have done this before with great success...not this time! When the moment came and I lifted the lid of the breadmaker I was greeted with something that looked only a little like bread.

So, I tipped off one of our resourceful people to go see what she could find...there'd be bread in the kitchen...a cake maybe? No. Just chocolate. Lots of it. Dark. White. In Christmas shapes.

So we consumed the sweet body of Jesus Christ, not to be confused with sweet breads...it was quite a moment! I guess I shouldn't have preached from Acts 8:28

Still with 3 seekers there, 2 of whom accepted the invitation to take communion, I'm not complaining - we even had a first timer pray aloud, go figure?

Like the new template. Looks a little too much like the Batcave though. Couldn't you have gone for your own hideout? How about the Fortress of Solitude or something? Avengers mansion? The Baxter Building? Xavier's School for Gifted Children? Does anyone else my age read comics?

Right back at ya! Might be bringing a marmite shipment your way in around 11 months...

Hey Glen,

Happy New Year Glen!

Still fiddling with the blog template - just did a basic transfer to the new blogger. I think I'll stay with the orange/blue thing for a while - I once had an office painted in the exact colours!

If I were going to design a hideout it would depend on which side I decided to play on - if it were the good guys then I'd go more sci-fi than comic book - Alpha Site, Echo Base or maybe a little fantasy with Henneth Annun (much better in the book). But I'd probably pick a bad guy like Asteroid M (Magneto) or Barad-dur!

Interesting that you chose the Batcave - Batman is the darker kind of superhero...and my Silas altar ego isn't the smiley-est choice out there either...

Hey Brett,
Glad you found my blog. Chocolate for communion.... interesting idea. I would have loved to have been there for that one. I think it ranks up there with the voice over Jesus movies.

You let a first timer pray? You'll be burned at the stake if you keep that sort of thing going on in church...

Mmmmmmmmm chocolate Jesus. I hope you had the milk of Christ to wash it down with and cover all your sins! I always have to have milk to wash down Jesus' chocolate body.
