Friday Poetry

The Loss

I still can't believe that you've gone,

Sometimes I thought you'd be with me forever
(Longer even than a long time)
And yet you have melted away:
Butter sidling amidst yellow kernels,
No more.
My heart beats stronger since you left,

I breathe easier now,
A weight has been lifted.
I hope never to see you again...

...and yet you were once part of me
So I say a fond farewell:
To five kgs of fat...
